Green Chic: Saving the Earth in Style
by Christie Matheson (Sourcebooks, Inc.2008)
Ladies, you will like Green Chic! It contains many civilized ideas; keep your Pradas no need to wear shoes, to recycled rubber. Eco-friendly means reducing your footprint on earth and consuming less, not more. So get into the habit of thinking before you buy according Christie Matheson. Christie has written for Shape, Glamour, Body & Soul, Yoga Journal and The Boston Globe publications. Her writing is focused on women being chic and trendy. Now turning her expressions to eco-friendly, Christie combines eco-friendly awareness with chic. No preaching but connecting with the psyche of women who love to shop, look marvelous, adore a great bargain and go to enormous lengths to be surrounded by beauty.
Christie Matheson, I like her style. She approaches eco-friendly from being in a position to make a conscious choice and express yourself as a green consumer by having an understanding of participating in being and living green . As Green grows into a part of America’s mainstream, you will find different levels of being green, from scientific environmental awareness to the average green consumer who recycles, reuses and renews. Matheson’s book has been appraised by others as they too see the practicality of Green Chic. They’ve stated, “The book is wonderfully realistic between changes a person might do and those they’re unlikely to do.”
Through Matheson’s non-preachy, hip-and-trendy, shop-until-you-find-the-right-dress view, the reader is left with beginner basics of wanting to be a part of the going green movement, especially if it means they can still be chic. Matheson one day may own the title as the founder of the Green Chic Movement.
A few green chic basics: Remember when buying any item to make a conscious choice (Green Chic: Know that you can take it back if you find it not a true green product). Reduce the clutter in your life (Green Chic: Only buy what you really love). Eat organic food (Green Chic: Eat food that does not make you fat and food that is good for you). Buy clothing made from the right kind of material (Green Chic: Buy natural fabrics with designer labels). These and other sensible, down-to-earth green solutions are the basics of going green chic.
