The Texas heat is still here, so it's somewhat discommodes to be confronted with retail shops and boutiques full of fall and winter fashions. This month I'd like to give you a few ideas on how to select new pieces for the fall and winter.

1. Have your shopping plan ready.

With a quick review of your current fall/winter pieces, decide whether or not you have anything in your wardrobe foundation that needs to be replaced. Just because an article isn't falling apart, doesn't mean it shouldn't be updated. If all of your staples look good, it's time to add some trend!

The first thing to remember is head-to-toe trendy looks (the ones you select straight out of the magazine) typically has the average woman looking ridiculous. Look for the subtle details, the shape of the jackets, the cut of the pants. The safest way to add trend ness to your repertoire is with your accessories.

3. What's Hot...besides the weather!

Two "Gotta Have it" trends to mention for your fall/winter fashions are chunky is funky and grey in any way. Showing up on the runways are sweaters and knits in huge and chunky proportions. Knits are being expressed as jackets, coats, scarves and dresses. The possibilities are limitless. A variety of grey hues are a big hit. This is a wonderful thing because if you can wear it with black, it can also be worn with grey!
